In 1967 Ringways became a Ford main dealer, and as part of their growth strategy they’ve added two Kia dealerships that are considered today, one of the top five automakers in the world. To add to their string of successes, Ringways also launched a used-car auto park on Wheatley Hall Road in Doncaster, to strengthen their multi-brand identity in the South Yorkshire area.

The company is successfully run by Group Managing Director, Stephen Russell.

Harrogate born Stephen Russell, 47, married with three children, developed his leadership and motivational skills over a period of 27 years specialising in the Motor Industry, initially joining the Company to develop their Fleet and Contract Hire operation in Leeds.  In 2004 Stephen became the Group Managing Director responsible for the Company’s long term vision and the difficulties of refinancing a very cash hungry business with an annual turnover of £80 million.

Ringways Motor Group has a solid reputation for caring for their customers hence their current advertising strap line, “The Ringways way”. The slogan was created to encapsulate their genuine interest for care and commitment towards all of their customers; be it for sales, service or after sales. Stephen works hard to communicate with his customers and has what it takes when it comes to planning multi channel media for Ringways. He became the youngest Chairman of the Northern Ford Dealer Advertising Association working closely with the manufacturer to develop specific TV Radio and press advertising for the North of England working with a budget of £8 million.

This is exactly the kind of commitment, focus and integrity that has carried Ringways through over the years, serving the community for more than five decades.

Stephen Russell, a lifelong fan of Leeds United and Chairman of Leeds United Ladies always finds time to get to know his customers; it is not unusual to see Stephen proactively walking around the West and South Yorkshire showrooms speaking to his customers using first name terms. Talking of families; Ringways Motor Group are immensely proud of their active involvement in the community, and support local projects and initiatives such as the Leeds Rugby Foundation, and Leeds United Football Club. Stephen Russell is also dedicated to Leeds United Football in The Community, a non-profit community sports organisation. Stephen’s passion for football came from his childhood memories of Leeds United winning the FA Cup in 1972 and he is looking forward to supporting the Foundation with his experience and commitment, making sport accessible to everyone.
