Ford Partners with the RNLI

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has helped save the lives of over 140,000 people in waters around the UK and Ireland since its inception in the 1800s.

While lifeboats form the backbone of the RNLI’s rescue operations, they are also reliant on other operational vehicles to patrol beaches, transport supplies and deliver their water safety message to people of all ages across the country.

Ford recently became the official vehicle supplier to the RNLI for the next 3 years, with the Ford Ranger forming the core of the partnership.

Ford Ranger – built to rescue

The Ranger will help lifeguards patrol beaches up and down the UK. After a rigorous bidding and testing period, the the RNLI decided that the Ford Ranger was best-suited to meet the diverse range of challenges that their teams face on a daily basis.

The Ranger’s vast storage space is ideal for carrying rescue equipment, while its immense pulling power can be used to deploy or retrieve jet skis.

“We’re absolutely thrilled that the RNLI have chosen the Ranger. It’s a vehicle we’re immensely proud of. And the fact the RNLI believe it’s well suited to their needs is an incredible testament to its all-round capability.”

Andy Barratt, Chairman and Managing Director of Ford Britain.

Transit Connect and Custom

Ford will also supply the RNLI with Transit Connect and Transit Custom vans, their versatility making them perfect for the wide ranges of work carried out away from the beaches: moving fundraising materials, transporting engineers and their equipment to make essential lifeboat repairs, or just moving supplies from one base to another.

Fiesta, Focus, EcoSport and Kuga

A large part of the RNLI’s work involves educating the public about water safety. Ford will also provide the charity with a number of vehicles from the latest range for their team of educators, who will use the cars to spread their message at schools, workplaces and events around the UK.
