Kuga’s advanced Plug-in Hybrid technology enables the Ford Kuga PHEV to be recharged at home or public charging stations. Energy recaptured while braking also helps charge the battery as you drive. In a regular engine, the intake valve stays closed when the piston moves up on its compression stroke, creating pressure in the cylinder. In an Atkinson-cycle engine, the valve stays open slightly longer. Since there’s now less pressure in the cylinder, the piston doesn’t have to work as hard to overcome friction, which in turn improves fuel efficiency. Some of the gasoline vapour escapes back into the intake manifold through that open valve, but it’s pulled back in the next time the valve opens, so nothing’s wasted.
The Ford Kuga Plug-In Hybrid is engineered to combine elegant styling with tough SUV capability: New Ford Kuga’s Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, All Wheel Drive and Selectable Drive Modes systems mean you can adapt your driving experience to any road conditions. The dynamic interior design that gives you the ultimate freedom to adapt to every journey. The flexible rear seating slides forward or backward to suit your needs, increasing the rear storage capacity by 67-Litres when forward – so you’ll have no trouble packing anything you need.
The Ford Kuga Fhev (Full Hybrid).
The Ford Kuga FHEV combines an efficient 2.5-litre Duratec engine with a battery-powered electric motor, which recaptures energy usually lost whilst decelerating. With the FHEV, the larger battery means more power can be stored, further improving fuel economy.
The Ford Kuga FHEV has many impressive key features. From its 12.3-inch digital cluster to its SYNC 3 with eight-inch colour touchscreen, you’ll always stay connected and entertained. A wireless charging area and a B&O Sound System make being in the car comfortable and enjoyable. The technological attributes of the Kuga FHEV aren’t limited to entertainment; Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Assist will make for a smoother, easier drive.
